*This pattern is designed to fit a standard Starbucks reusable mug. You can easily adjust your chain stitch amount to fit the mug of your choice and increase or decrease the pattern by that amount. For instance, if 28 stitches fit around your mug you will chain 29 and each row will be 28 stitches.
Coffee Sleeve:
With cream, chain 35
Rows 1-4: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (34 stitches)
on the last stitch of the 4th row, switch to burnt orange leaving a long cream tail
Rows 5-12: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (34 stitches)
Turn and place a stitch marker in the chain 1 and pause with orange for now
Ears:
Row 13
With cream, join in the 11th stitch:
(in the 11th stitch: HDC, DC, TC, chain 2)
(in the 12th stitch: TC, DC, HDC) chain 1, tie off and pull through the chain stitch to secure
Skip the next 9 stitches
With cream, join in the 22nd stitch:
(in the 22nd stitch: HDC, DC, TC, chain 2)
(in the 23rd stitch: TC, DC, HDC) chain 1, tie off and pull through the chain stitch to secure
Pick up where you left off with the orange yarn and SC down the entire row, going up the sides and tops of the ears, except chain 2 at the top of each ear to create the points. Try to keep the cream tails on the ears pulled to the back of the coffee sleeve as you complete this row.
At the end of this row, chain 1 and tie off with a long tail pulling through the chain stitch to secure.
Secure and trim the cream tails from the ears on the back side of the coffee sleeve.
Assembly:
With the right side facing in, use a yarn needle and the long tail to stitch the rough ends together. Tie off and trim any excess yarn. Turn right side out!
Nose:
With black in a magic circle, SC 4
Pull tight and slip stitch into the first SC, chain 1
Tie off and pull through the chain stitch to secure
Using a yarn needle, stitch the nose onto the coffee sleeve in the center of the ears where the cream and orange yarn rows meet.
Eyes:
Using a tapestry needle and black yarn, stitch on two cute curved eyes above the nose. Tie off and trim any excess yarn.
