Crochet garlands and coasters are some of my favorite holiday crochet projects to design. They're a quick and easy way to add a handmade, affordable and festive touch of holiday décor to any space. These crochet four-leaf clovers are so quick and simple to whip up and make the perfect DIY St. Patrick's Day party décor! They also make adorable shamrock appliques!
Each crochet shamrock consists of four individual crocheted hearts and a stem that are stitched together using a tapestry needle. The finished crochet shamrock measures approximately 3 inches across when lying flat. You could easily make a larger four-leaf clover by using bulkier yarn and a larger crochet hook.

Yarn:
For this free crochet pattern, we'll be using medium (4) worsted weight yarn. I really enjoy using worsted weight yarn for most of my projects because of the versatility as well as the availability in most craft stores. Worsted weight yarn also tends to come in very affordable brands. You can easily substitute with other brands and colors as long as the ounces per gram are similar. I've used the following for this project:
Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Paddy Green

Chain
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
TC - Triple Crochet (often referred to as treble crochet)

Crochet Shamrock Garland - Free Crochet Pattern
Crochet Heart Applique (4 needed):
With green yarn,
In a magic circle:
chain 3
3 TC
3 DC
chain 1
1 TC
chain 1
3 DC
3 TC
chain 3
slip stitch
chain 1
Pull the loose end of the magic circle tight, creating the heart.
Tie off with a long tail and pull through that chain 1 to secure.
You only need a long tail on one of the hearts. You can weave in and trim the tails on the other three hearts.
Tie both tails together on the back to secure.
Shamrock Stem:
With green yarn, Chain 12
Row 1: slip stitch in each stitch, chain 1 (11 stitches)
Tie off with a medium tail and pull through the chain stitch to secure.
Set aside.
Assembly:
Using the long tail left on one of the hearts, stitch the four points on the hearts together.
Attach the stem to the back so that it comes down between two of the hearts.
Tie off and trim any loose ends.
