Crochet Teacher Gifts - Apple, Pencil & Paper Coffee Cozy

Updated: 12 hours ago

Hello, hi & welcome back! I'm excited to share these adorable Crochet Teacher Gifts! This set of three free crochet patterns includes an Apple, Pencil and Paper! These adorable school-themed coffee cozies pair perfectly with a Starbucks gift card or a cute mug. They work up super quickly and make the perfect handmade teacher appreciation gift ideas!

Each coffee cozy is comprised of the base which is worked in a flat rectangle. Any embellishments are added to the base. The coffee cozy is then seamed up with a tapestry needle. The finished coffee sleeves measure approximately 4" tall and 4.5" wide when lying flat. This pattern can be adjusted to fit the width of your mug of choice (see the coffee sleeve base pattern detail below for adjustment instructions).

Mug Size Adjustment

This pattern is designed to fit a standard Starbucks reusable mug. However, you can easily adjust your chain stitch amount on the base of the coffee cozy pattern to fit the mug of your choice! You'll chain the amount that fits perfectly around your mug + 1 chain stitch. For instance, if 28 stitches fit perfectly around your mug you will chain 29 and each row will be 28 stitches.

Using a yarn needle, attach the leaf and stem to the top center of the base.

Paper Coffee Cozy

Paper Coffee Cozy Base:

With white, chain 35

Rows 1-13: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (34 stitches)

Tie off with a long tail and pull through the chain stitch to secure.

Using a yarn needle, stitch pink and blue lines onto your mug so that it looks like a sheet of lined paper. I did three horizontal rows of light blue and one vertical row of pink.

Assembly:

Turn the 'right' side of the coffee sleeve inward and line up the rough edges where all of your tails are.

Using a yarn needle and the long tails, stitch the ends together.

Trim any excess yarn.

Turn right side out.

Eyes & Mouth (Optional):

Secure two eyelets and trim the excess posts with a wire cutter so they will lay as flat as possible against the mug.

Using a yarn needle and black yarn, stitch on a cute little mouth.
