Heart Coffee Cozy - Free Crochet Pattern

Updated: Mar 2

Hello, hi & welcome back! I'm so excited to share my Heart Coffee Cozy free crochet pattern with you! I love the fall color combination of cream and burnt orange. This beginner-friendly crochet pattern whips up quickly and makes the perfect cozy sweater for your mug or fall-themed gift idea!

Each project is comprised of the coffee sleeve base which is worked in a flat rectangle that is then seamed together with a tapestry needle. The heart applique is crocheted separately and stitched onto the coffee cozy with a tapestry needle. The finished cozy measures approximately 4 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide when lying flat. This pattern can be adjusted to fit the width of your mug of choice (see the coffee sleeve base pattern detail below for adjustment instructions).

Mug Size Adjustment

This pattern is designed to fit a standard Starbucks reusable mug. However, you can easily adjust your chain stitch amount on the base of the coffee cozy pattern to fit the mug of your choice! You'll chain the amount that fits perfectly around your mug + 1 chain stitch. For instance, if 28 stitches fit perfectly around your mug you will chain 29 and each row will be 28 stitches.

Pull the loose end of the magic circle tight, creating the heart.

Tie both tails together on the back to secure.

Fold both rough ends together and stitch closed using the long tail and a tapestry needle.

Tie off and trim any excess yarn. Turn right side out (so the seam is on the inside).

Using a yarn needle and the long tail on the heart, stitch the heart onto the center of the coffee sleeve. Tie off and trim any excess yarn.
