The Crochet Christmas Tree Forest Cozy is a free pattern here on my blog! These coffee sleeves are great for beginners and make wonderful crochet gift ideas! Below you'll find the free pattern and video tutorial!

Pattern Design + Construction:
The coffee cozy portion works up quickly using only the single crochet stitch, which makes it perfect for beginners and a really great crochet Christmas gift idea. The cozy is then seamed together using a yarn needle; however, I've had some prefer to crochet the cozy in the round, which is also an option. The Christmas Tree Forest is stitched directly onto the cozy using a yarn needle.
The finished Crochet Christmas Tree Forest Cozy measures approximately 3.75" tall by 5" wide when lying flat. This pattern is designed to fit a Grande 16 oz. travel mug, but another great feature is the cozy base can be adjusted to fit your mug of choice (details further down).

Mug Size Adjustment
This pattern is designed to fit a Grande 16 oz. travel mug (but I can also fit it on a venti - stretched a little). However, you can easily adjust your chain stitch amount on the base of the coffee cozy pattern to fit the mug of your choice! You'll chain the amount that fits perfectly around your mug + 1 chain stitch. For instance, if 32 stitches fit perfectly around your mug you will chain 33 and each row will be 32 stitches.
Due to differing yarns and tension, your cozy may be larger/smaller than mine. I encourage you to test your stitches around your mug.

Coffee Sleeve Base:
With the cozy yarn color of your choice, chain 35.
Rows 1-14:Â SC in each stitch, chain 1 (34 stitches)
Tie off with a long tail.

Christmas Tree Forest:
Using green yarn and a yarn needle, add as many trees around the cozy as you would like. You can vary the heights and how close or far they are from each other.
Tall Tree Example:

Short Tree Example:

Snow
Using white yarn and a yarn needle, add some snow to the trees.

Cozy Assembly - Invisible Seam:
Fold the coffee cozy with the wrong side facing out (pretty trees on the inside) and line up the rough edges.
Using a yarn needle and the long cozy tail, stitch the rough ends together. You can use a whip stitch, or a simple back and forth stitch. Pay close attention to the top and bottom of the join to ensure it won't pull apart when stretched over the mug.
Tie off toward the center and weave in the loose ends.
Trim any excess yarn.
Turn right side out.
