Pattern Design + Construction:
This holiday crochet project works up quickly using only a few basic stitches which makes it a really great crochet Christmas gift accessory. You could also use this pattern for any small gift item such as candy or simply as an ornament. It would be perfect for a teacher or coworker gift.
The pattern is designed to be a NO SEW project, worked in rows with a few increases and decreases and then seamed up with a single crochet border. The finished Crochet Christmas Stocking Gift Card Holder measures approximately 4 inches tall x 4 inches wide when lying flat.

Note: Be mindful if your crochet style uses a lot of tension, your stitches may be too tight for a gift card to fit comfortably. My suggestion would be to try using an H / 5 mm hook.
Stocking Base:
With the main stocking color of your choice, chain 27
Row 1: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (26 stitches)
Row 2: INC, SC 11, INC, INC, SC 11, INC, chain 1 (30 stitches)
Rows 3-4: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (30 stitches)
Row 5: DEC, SC 26, DEC, chain 1 (28 stitches)
Row 6: DEC, SC 24, DEC, chain 1 (26 stitches)
Row 7: Slip stitch 4, SC 18, chain 1 (22 stitches)
Turning here even though we didn't finish the row. We are starting the narrow portion of the stocking
Rows 8-12: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (18 stitches)
On the last stitch of the 12th row, switch to white yarn
You don't have to tie off with the main color yet, we'll use it for the seam
Rows 13-15: SC in each stitch, chain 1 (18 stitches)
Row 16: SC 9, chain 9 (this is the loop), SC 9, do not chain 1 (18 stitches)

Seam:
With our hook at the top left, fold the stocking in half.

We will create a SC border going through both sides - down the left side, around the toe, and across the bottom. Slip stitch when you arrive at the end of the heel.

Tie off and weave in any remaining ends.
