Popsicle Garland - Free Crochet Pattern

Updated: May 2

Hello, hi and welcome back! I'm excited to share my Popsicle Garland free crochet pattern! These are so quick and easy to whip up and make the perfect summer party décor! These sweet little crochet popsicles also make adorable appliques or coasters!

This popsicle crochet pattern is comprised of the popsicle base, base border, popsicle stick which is stitched onto the bottom of the base, the rosy cheeks which are crocheted separately and attached to the base with a tapestry needle, and the eyes. The finished popsicle measures approximately 3 inches wide by 5.5 inches tall. You could easily make a larger popsicle by using larger yarn and a larger crochet hook.

Yarn Colors:

I receive many questions regarding the specific yarn colors I use for my projects! Oftentimes, I use leftover colors in my yarn stash that I have lost the labels for or have acquired secondhand without labels, so I apologize if I cannot list them all each time! Below are the specific brands/colors I do know for this particular pattern!

  • Brown for Popsicle Sticks: Red Heart Super Saver in the color 'Cafe Latte'

  • Blue Popsicle: I Love This Yarn in the color 'Ocean'

  • Rosy Cheeks: I Love This Yarn in the color 'Light Peach'

Popsicle Stick:

Row 1: With brown yarn, join in the 4th stitch of the bottom of the base and SC in that stitch and the next two stitches, chain 1 (3 stitches)

Rosy Cheeks (make 2 per popsicle):

With pink yarn,

Round 1: In a magic circle, SC 5, pull tight (5 stitches)

Slip stitch into the first stitch of the round, chain 1, tie off with a medium tail

Attach the safety eyes between the 10th and 11th rows when counting from the bottom-up on the finished popsicle base.

Using the tail on the rosy cheeks and a tapestry needle, stitch the cheeks on underneath and slightly outside of the eyes. Tie off on the backside and trim any excess yarn.

Using your tapestry needle and jute, string your finished popsicles into a garland by running the jute through two points on the back top of the popsicles.

I hope you have enjoyed crocheting this popsicle garland with me!
