Pattern Design + Construction:

The goal for this crochet bunny design was to make an adorable crochet stuffed animal for my niece and nephew's Easter baskets! I got to sketching and had no idea a little bunny could turn out so cute! I love the kawaii look of the larger head, widespread eyes and droopy arms. The sweet little face instantly draws out an 'awe!!!'

This free crochet pattern uses simple stitches to create a multi-piece project that transforms into a cohesive, finished bunny rabbit. I've received a lot of feedback that this pattern works well for amigurumi beginners who are moving on to larger, multi-piece projects. My niece named hers 'Bun Bun' and dresses it up with baby clothes.

This Crochet Bunny Rabbit consists of the body, head, arms and ears which are crocheted separately, stuffed and stitched together using a tapestry needle. The finished crochet bunnies measure approximately 12" tall. If you'd like to increase the size of your crochet bunny rabbit, you could easily use a larger crochet hook and bulkier weight yarn!

Yarn:

We're using medium Worsted Weight (4) Yarn for the crochet bunny rabbit pattern. It's my favorite yarn to work with for amigurumi and it has a great price point. It's versatile and wears well while also being soft and cozy which is perfect for a stuffed animal or lovey pattern! You could easily substitute brands of worsted weight yarn as long as the ounces per gram are similar. I've been tagged in so many pics of others' bunnies in all different colors! They each turn out unique and absolutely adorable!

For this tutorial, I used the following yarn colors:

  • Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color White

  • Red Heart Super Saver, Medium 4, 7 oz / 198 g, in the color Café Latte

  • I Love This Yarn, Medium 4, 7 oz / 199 g, in the color Rosy Cheeks

  • Yarn Bee Yarn ID, Medium 4, 5 oz / 252 yd in the color Oats

We won't be adding any stuffing to the ears so they'll sit relatively flat.

To shape the ear, fold the bottom inward (sort of like a taco). Using a tapestry needle and the long tail, stitch the fold together.

Again using the long tail and a tapestry needle, attach the ears to the head.
